The Circus

Acrylic on board

Framed in black oak and ready to hang

I used to be in the circus. Thats not a joke or a metaphor. For amost three years my wife and I were the advance team for one of Australia's largest travelling circus's. We drove our motorhome a town ahead of the show putting signs on peoples fences and gaint inflatable clowns in their front yards. From time to time we even helped pull the tent up and down although our muscles didnt compare to those of the acrobats. It taught me a lot about people, Australia, working hard and hardly working. The cicrus is made up of thousands of moving parts that all come together for a beautiful show. This painting reminded me of the time I ran away and joined the circus.
